SA 'approaching tipping point'

28 October 2011, 07:11  - SC

South Africa is in trouble and we are fast approaching the “tipping” point.

After 17 years of handing the country over to the ANC it is fast becoming a reality that there are people in key positions who are clearly out of their depth and are incompetent/uneducated. The struggle doesn’t substitute or replaces a hard worked for degree.

There was always a standard and requirement for key positions, where is all that standards now? Our standards have dropped so far, Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu springs to mind to name two.

As a young South African, it is hard to be optimistic about the future if you can see how our “leaders” are failing. They don’t seem to have a concrete/sustainable/maintainable plan on the way forward and talks of nationalisation and Massmart comes to mind, but that won’t solve our problems long term. It might solve the problem temporarily but how do you hand over mines to people who clearly have shown that they can’t run the country. Look at where our country is! It’s a mess.

Crime is out of control and poverty is increasing. All this government wants is more money! What’s being done with the money they are taking already? To put up more toll gates is the dumbest idea ever! There are so many toll gates already, where on earth is all that money going to? Jobs are lost on a daily basis and unemployment is slowly increasing but the government wants more money! Why? Who will benefit?

Labour brokers, corruption, incompetence, greed is killing our country. Only few people benefit from these appalling practices some illegal and other should be. People are exploited and it’s cruel, but what are people to do? They need to survive and put food on the table. Employers don’t care because in the end their pockets burst with money and business profits go up.

The sad thing is there are too few educated people to stand up and take control of the situation. Why on earth don’t we protest against the incompetence in key government positions?

There are so many who continue to look back while they are trying to move forward, if they are not careful they will walk straight off a cliff! This country is in trouble and we deserve better from our “leaders”.

As an educated South African I can see uneducated people outnumber the educated people. This is where the ANC’s power lies; it will take a miracle to beat them at the polls. It’s so easy to sell a vision to an uneducated person. I can’t believe for a second educated people will allow this to continue.

My solution is simple, get leaders with vision, class and desire to make this country the best in the world. I know what I would do and I will do it for a lot less than what they are getting paid!
