The one thing I have come to accept is that the current ANC team governing this country will play dirty politics unashamedly.
President Jacob Zuma promised us 500 000 jobs by the end of 2009 and he promised these jobs during recession, regardless of the fact that many commentators warned him about this.
Even ordinary people wrote to different newspapers and called radio stations warning about this. But the President was convinced that this will happen. Instead, we are still losing jobs today.
The 500 000 jobs was a political ploy to keep the momentum about him and the public perception about him up.
Now, the Minister of Human Settlement Tokyo Swxwale tells us that the government is three months old and people are merely trying to send the message to the new administration by protesting.
How convenient for Mr Sexwale to say that. I thought he was a Premier of Gauteng yet the former premier it seems has experienced some memory loss. I thought President Jocob Zuma was the deputy President of the Country at some point; and was he also not an MEC or so in KZN. Who was the Minister of housing? Was it not the current Minister of Defence Lindiwe Sisulu, and was Trevor Manuel not Minister of Finance?
What really is so new about this administration?
Now these are Mr Sexwale's words in Sunday Times: "They voted us into power three months ago. They are simply saying leaders in the past have done things wrong and they want to tell us..."
Don't these leaders in the past include Mr Sexwale himself? Do we vote an administration into power or a political party? Mr Sexwale complains about the councillors, but I then have to ask: Are they not ANC members, where they not elected through ANC process to represent ANC in government? Does ANC have a rating for members as who are worthy members and who are not worthy members?
Does it mean that every time we have a new president we are going to always start from day one? The previous administration had asked for time, since our democracy is young, and now the Zuma administration claims to be only three months old, and needs time.
Any administration will be new after elections. Even if Zuma remains as the head of the country after 2014, the administration itself will be new, as he will appoint new people.
The funny thing is during elections you are not told of the newness. You get bombarded about the track record of ANC, they tell you how many houses they have built since 1994 and they tell of how many grants were given to ordinary people and many more positive things are flashed in our faces.
People are claiming that it has only been three months and it's too early for delivery, but already they are using millions to buy cars, host events and functions. Yet when ordinary people request what is long overdue for them, they say we are three months in government.
Sexwale, says that he will visit informal settlement and sleep there and that is a noble idea, however he must go there to tell them the date at which they will get houses.
The time for promises has passed; it is now time to deliver. The time for charm is over; it is time to care.
