It has been a long and arduous journey for all of us and each of us, in every country, in every home, in every family has suffered great loss, great pain and great hurt.
As a world, we have grown up as children; we have journeyed everywhere, made friends and broken the barriers, of race, of lifestyle and of religion.
Finally, for the first time in history, humankind stands in a difficult situation.
As children, we were taught to tolerate one another, to understand one another and to forgive one another for our mistakes, shortcomings and most of all to try and walk a mile in someone’s shoes, before we even attempt to understand them and make statements.
The very things taught as children now seem lost.
As we enter into a New Year, we have brought all things to completion, we understand the birth pains of the Earth, we feel the change in our atmosphere, we see the pain in each other's lives, whether it be loneliness, loss or damage in one form or another, such as finances, weather and war.
Let us enter this year as activists, in all our hearts, activists that do not sit on wires like birds and chirp, but take a hands-on approach, first in our own lives and then in the life of our planet.
Now, is the time of restoration, for something happens that no one seems to see? Everyone is shouting doom and dismay, the end of the world is coming. Have you all forgotten that there is still good in this world? Have you all forgotten that as much as there is balance between light and darkness, darkness cannot and never will encompass light?
Nevertheless, light can encompass darkness.
It's not only religious fact, or atheist common sense, it's a scientific fact!
I ask you all as you enter the New Year, to enter the year leaving old things behind. Le us awaken 2010 as children, making as if nothing happened and that it will be OK.
Not only think it, but walk it to, do it, participate in everyone's life, dreams and support everything you can and let us make this world a Free and Fair place, of peace, let us make it a place with which our generations and generations past and those to come will look at and say, "We did this!"
Awaken, mighty Earth, awaken all religions and races, all men and women of peace. Awaken Father, our Christian Father, Jesus, Allah, Yahweh and Jehovah, awaken Servants of Shiva and Buddha, awaken servants of the Mother Earth, of the spirit of the Earth and Wind and Water and Fire...
Awaken Humanity! This year is the year the world turned!
Awaken as children of one living God, one living world. Let us take this time to restore all that was lost, from the feelings we carry, to the problems we have with family and friends. Awaken from the lies of hatred and anger and awaken from difference.
Discover that as a world we are united, we are not members of one household, or members of an extended family, we are a family of almost seven billion human beings and a family of 30 million species of plants and animals.
I ask you now, to see and know that I say this, not for any hidden agenda, I say this because I cry daily, when I see the state of our world, our creatures, and our families. Most of all I cry alone when I see the state of our hearts!
This is the call from South Africa, from my hearts to yours, to Raise Your Hand and you will see that your Heart is Open!
May your year be blessed, Earth and all who dwell in it.
