I discovered 3 things these past two weeks. Nelson Mandela was a great man, Zuma is severely lacking as a leader and he required a pool in Nkandla to stop fires. Never in my life have I ever felt so patronized by our government. Surely, after watching all those documentaries my fellow black South Africans are now aware that the ANC they keep voting for is not the same as the one of Oliver Tambos and Walter Sisulus. It is time to separate the legacy from the current rot that is stinking up parliament. We are faced with unemployment, poverty and no prospects of a bright future because number One needed paving for "his" heels and an astro turf for his security personnel. I feel like I have been slapped on the face with a wet bra. R250 million that could have been used to better our education, to create jobs, to improve hospitals just to name a few has been spent to look after someone's heels! I have had it with all this nonsense. It is time we took off our apartheid inspired tinted glasses and realised the Liberation Movement is liberating us no more. It is time we, as voters finally have a say and stop with blindly following people. Surely this is not the "freedom" Madiba fought for? It is time the ANC earned my vote by proving themselves worthy to me and no riding on the coat tails of Mandelas and Tambos. I have made a decision, I am taking my country back, one vote at a time. I don't know who I am voting for yet, but Mr. Astro-turf, paved-for-heels, pool fire brigade can be sure he is not getting my vote.
