I heard Jacob Zuma's speaker, Mac Maharaj, explaining Jacob Zuma's latest words of profound wisdom. What Mr. Zuma was actually hitting out at, insisted Mr. Maharaj, was at white people who take the dog in front with them in the car cabin whilst the black folks go into the back of the open bakkie. "Well " I thought to myself, "I am not the youngest, but I have never seen anything like that myself. But then being a "townie" and SA being SA, things like that possibly do happen, or have happened". I did however find Mac Maharaj's explanation over stretched, not absolutely with out substance and asked myself why , Mr. Zuma was now bringing yet another of his "Great Divides" when SA has so many other problems.
Why does our president so often need someone to re-explain what he said and why this attack, when SA needs reconciliation and nation building, just to mention a few of SA ills. Then too, if he (Zuma) cannot say what he means, how can he mean what he says?
And then it happened. Now folks hang onto your chairs and pull them closer to the computer!
Driving up to a four -way stop in a small western Cape town, I saw a bakkie pull up, with two white men and a dog in the car cabin.........and..........and...........four young white men in the back of the bakkie! "Cripes "I said to myself, "White racism against white people. This is a new one for SA." So gobsmacked was I, that I failed to pull out my cell and click the whole scene into ever lasting life . I did however consider trying to phone Mac Maharaj, but I desisted. I have heard vile and unfair rumours about him, that he is only interested in folks with big bucks. I doubt that he would have the time of day for the likes of me.
Sitting in a shady cabin with a dog while those poor "okes " sweat it out in the back is the most evil of deeds which can never, never be compared to building oneself a palace with tax-payers money in one of the poorest and most AIDS infested areas in SA. No, never! This dog business also overshadows the Edu.Solutions scandal, governmental corruption and Marikana. Forty-three dead miners and xx injured is just peanuts compared to this white people's dogs mania.
Do I have any wishes for Mr. Zuma and his speaker? Indeed I do. In some of their most recent newspaper photos, they both look a bit worse for the wear, politics it seems is a stressful occupation. My suggestion is, that they both gets a dog. A dog gives one all that encompassing and uncritical love that do human beings and politicians so much good.Thoughtful walks with the doggie are good for the waist line and give one time to think before one yaps.
