DA hypocrisy dishes Zille disciplinary charges

19 April 2017, 12:29
DA Federal Chairperson James Selfe has confirmed that Helen Zille has been charged for her tweets over colonialism. He said that the process could take months as Zille was a busy person and that she could appeal any possible decision against her.

The tweets included:

  • “For those claiming legacy of colonialism was ONLY negative‚ think of our independent judiciary‚ transport infrastructure‚ piped water‚ etc.”
  • “Would we have had a transition into specialised healthcare and medication without colonial influence? Just be honest‚ please.”

The tweets and DA Mmusi Maimane’s subsequent complaint against her has divided South Africa. Ironically, that division is black and white, a consequence more important than the tweets because the DA’s election campaign states that it’s a party for all South Africans.

It cannot be ignored that Maimane is a chameleon politician e.g. his church may be homophobic but he’s pro-gay. Then there was the hateful use of a fake picture in the coffin case story. Is he sensing opportunity to escape Zille’s shadow or is he simply playing the game called South Africa?

It was previously reported that other charges were being added. The DA is keeping silent on what those are.

This may be a massive political merry-go-round.

By confirming the charges on the evening of the Day of Action Against President Jacob Zuma suggests that the DA was hoping to dilute their bad news. But the tide of public opinion has been slowly turning against Zille so i expect that to backfire (DA pro-media is getting confused, do they support Maimane, Zille or the DA?).

The timing is also likely a nod by the DA to the anti-Zuma faction of the ANC. That and the delayed charges ensures that Zille’s hearing will start long after Parliament’s no-confidence vote on Zuma.

My cynicism has foundation. The DA Federal Executive, which includes Selfe and Maimane, has repeatedly failed to investigate my evidence against Helen Zille, her failure as Premier; her failure to investigate one of her inner circle, MEC Anton Bredell, and her refusal to stop major DA crimes in my home town of Knysna.

Considering her tweets, it’s ironic that includes her awareness of DA councillors and candidates repeatedly abusing social media against me, even associating me with sociopathy and child abuse simply because i’d exposed DA corruption and made complaint to Parliament. That Zille, after a meeting with me, allowed one of the protagonists, Dr. Martin Young, to become a councillor suggests that the propaganda campaign was condoned by her.

The DA is disingenuous and hypocritical but, to give them credit, they’re more clever at it than the ANC.
