Rumours are abound that Apple is testing iPhone 6 already. It is anyone's guess when the new craze will be launched, but my guess is it will be before the end of 2013. If the romour is true and the anticipated launch happens, this will indeed be great news to me.
My 4-year old iPhone 3G has had its hay days, and it is now time to replace it. I did a comparative analysis of iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 and I was horrified by the latter's price premium. Despite this BIG bother, I still want to buy the new model because it has enhanced features that are key to the business I shall be using it for.
My observation of Apple's pattern relating to new product launches informs me that I must wait a bit longer before I buy iPhone 5. Here are two key trends to bet on: (a) The most valued company in the world has been introducing new/enhanced iPhone annually since iPhone 3GS (that makes it 4 years in a row now). (b) Prices of existing models plunge when a new one is launched.
Based on feature differences between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S that were marginal, I am placing a bet on the same happening between iPhone 5 and iPhone 6. My anticipation, therefore, is that price of the former will come down, while I shall not be losing much in the way of new features of the latter.
Thus, this is going to be a waiting game. In the meantime, I hope my iPhone 3G keeps delivering reliably *fingers crossed*
