  • Nairobi - A magistrate's court in Kenya on Thursday ordered the release of five suspects charged with murder over the bombing of a hotel in the coastal city of Mombasa, after the prosecution withdrew charges against them.

"They (suspects) stand discharged, but that does not bar them from subsequent arrest and charging," magistrate Aggrey Muchelule said, after state prosecutor John Gacivi said the attorney general had decided to withdraw the charges.

The suspects were facing murder charges in connection with the car bombing that killed 12 Kenyans and three Israelis at the Israeli-owned Paradise Hotel on November 28 last year.

Three bombers are presumed to have died in the attack.
