Uganda rebels hack 11 to death

Kampala - Rebels attacked a village in northern Uganda, hacking to death 11 people including four children, an official said on Tuesday.
At least 20 rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army attacked Apungi village to replenish food supplies, district administrator Peter Lochap said.
A six-month-old baby was among those killed on Saturday in the troubled district, 270km north of the Ugandan capital, Lochap said.
The Lord's Resistance Army, a shadowy group waging an 18-year rebellion, could not be reached for comment. The official's account could not be independently verified.
The rebels claim to be fighting to overthrow Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, but the force mostly attacks civilians, steals food and abducts children for use as fighters or concubines.
The insurgency has made more than 1.6 million people homeless and has wreaked havoc across northern and northeastern Uganda.
