Europe races to help Morocco

Kenitra - Aircraft from Spain and France joined Moroccan planes on Wednesday in a battle to save forests in northern Morocco from fires raging in the high summer heat.
The fire was reported to have devastated at least 2 000ha in the Izaren forest between the provinces of Sidi Kacem and Chefchaouen.
At least one other fire was reported in this mountainous and remote region in the north of the country.
Canadair aircraft from Morocco and Spain dumped tons of water on the blaze and two more of the specialized planes were due to fly in from France early Wednesday.
King Mohammed VI earlier issued an international appeal for help in fighting the fire.
