Moroccans storm Spanish border

Ceuta - At least six people were killed overnight when about 600 people stormed the border separating Morocco from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, radio reports said on Thursday.

The reason for the deaths was not immediately clear. Reports said shots were heard.

The incident followed two similar stormings of the border fence in the enclave of Melilla further east on Monday and Tuesday night. Police in riot gear attempted to repel the immigrants, about 300 of whom got through to Melilla.

More than 20 similar incidents have occurred in Melilla over the past four months, claiming three lives.

Spain and Morocco were due to discuss illegal immigration at a bilateral summit in southern Spain later on Thursday. - Sapa-dpa
