Militiamen loot aid offices
05/12/2005 13:57 - (SA)
Mogadishu - A disgruntled former employee of the German aid agency, GTZ, deployed 50 heavily armed men and looted their office in Somalia, said a GTZ official on Monday in Nairobi.
He said: "They looted $24 000, but no one was injured in the incident."
The Somali administrator, Mohammed Bulle was recently dismissed "because he behaved more and more like a mini warlord".
Bulle was a relative of the minister for justice of the transitional government based in Jowhar and Mogadishu.
The GTZ official said: "He will probably consider the $24 000 as his golden handshake."
Meanwhile, calm had returned to the southern town of Hudur, but it was not known where Bulle and the militiamen were located.
