Mozambique publishes cartoons
18/02/2006 20:44 - (SA)
Maputo - Mozambique independent weekly Savana published eight of the 12 controversail cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad on Saturday.
The cartoon showing Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban is included in the eight published.
Muslims account for about 18% of the Mozambican population.
So far, the country's Muslim leaders have kept a low profile on the cartoon row, which has inflamed Muslims around the world since the drawings were published in a Danish newspaper.
Savana says it is not anti-Muslim, pointing out that one of its regular columnists is an Islamic theologian.
