Kampala - Uganda's president held his first direct conversation with a top leader of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army, which led a brutal 19-year insurgency in this African nation, said a rebel spokesperson on Tuesday.

According to rebel spokesperson Obonyo Olweny, President Yoweri Museveni and Vincent Otti spoke for five minutes by satellite phone on Sunday about the presence of Ugandan Army forces in southern Sudan.
