Somali airport attack kills one

Mogadidhu - One person was killed on Wednesday after a barrage of mortar shells were fired into the main airport in the volatile Somali capital, Mogadishu, said witnesses.
Another three civilians had been wounded.
Ahmed Hersi, a witness who was next to the terminal at the time of the attack, said: "Several mortar shells landed at Mogadishu International Airport, killing one person and wounding another."
The airport also served as a base for Ethiopian troops who helped the interim government overthrow Islamist hardliners late last month and were helping bolster security in the largely lawless city.
Hesri said dozens of people who were in the airport's open grounds fled inside amid fears of more attacks.
The attack came a day after a first batch of Ethiopian troops began pulling out of the Mogadishu, even though a proposed 7 600-strong African Union peacekeeping force had yet to be deployed.
The Islamists who fled Mogadishu on December 28 had threatened to wage a guerilla war against the interim government and remaining Ethiopian troops.
