Party members released

Lagos - Eight members of Nigeria's ruling party seized by gunmen in the southern oil-producing state of Ondo last weekend have been released, a local state official said on Saturday.
"They were all released yesterday (Friday). Several people intervened before the boys set free the hostages," he said by telephone.
The official, who asked not to be named, said no ransom was paid to the militants, who had asked for $3.8m for the release of the hostages.
Gunmen seized 11 members of the People's Democratic Party at a party gathering last weekend in Arogbo. Three of them were released after two days on health grounds.
The kidnappers said they were protesting against the party for failing to compensate them for helping rig elections for the state governorship in April.
But the state government has insisted it had no pact with the gunmen and described them as "criminals".
The April polls were characterised by widespread violence and fraud.
