Gadaffi: Leave Darfur alone
11/12/2007 16:52 - (SA)
Paris - Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi on Tuesday criticised the "internationalisation" of the conflict in Darfur which he said would sort itself out if the people were left alone.
"The world's interest in Darfur is well-meant, but it is now going against the original intentions," he told members of the French National Assembly.
"If we leave the inhabitants of Darfur to manage by themselves, the crisis will end by itself," he said.
A mixed UN-AU force of 26 000 troops is to be deployed in Darfur next month, while an EU force of 3 500 is due in eastern Chad.
