Family wiped out in collapse Alexandria - The death toll from the collapse of a block of flats in Egypt rose to 22 on Thursday, including five members of the same family, as rescuers pulled three more bodies from the rubble.

Security sources earlier said that 23 had died in the collapse.

The official Mena news agency reported that three people had been rescued from the rubble of the 12-storey building in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria since it collapsed on Monday.

However, several people are still trapped.

The collapse was the latest in a string of such disasters in recent years in Egypt, where many structures are unauthorised and built in breach of regulations or with poor materials.
