EU questions Kibaki's win
30/12/2007 18:47 - (SA)
Nairobi - The European Union election observer team voiced concern on Sunday over the vote tally in Kenya's disputed presidential race which saw President Mwai Kibaki declared winner.
"At this time, the Electoral Commission of Kenya, despite the best efforts of its chairperson, has not succeeded in establishing the credibility of the tallying process to the satisfaction of all parties and candidates," said Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, the EU mission's chief observer.
"Some doubt remains as to the accuracy of the result of the presidential election as announced today," he said.
Defeated opposition candidate Raila Odinga and his Orange Democratic Movement had disputed the polls, charging that any Kibaki win was due to vote-rigging.
