Police kill 9 in Kenya

Nairobi - Fresh violence in western Kenya left 12 dead on Tuesday, nine of whom were shot by police seeking people responsible for attacks on houses and other property, police sources said.
Three other people died in clashes with youth gangs armed with bows and arrows near a roadblock in the troubled Rift Valley province, said a local police commander, who asked not to be named.
The Red Cross earlier said the death toll from the violence that erupted after December elections had surpassed 1 000 while over 300 000 people have been displaced.
