Mom gives birth in flooded island

Maputo - A pregnant woman marooned by rising water recently gave birth to triplets in Mozambique's central district of Mutarara in Tete province, said reports on Thursday.
The paper said 37-year-old Maria Jose spent one week marooned on an island and gave birth to the two girls and a boy on January 30.
She was later airlifted by helicopter to a health centre at Samuracha refugee centre.
Already a mother of six other children - four girls and two boys - she was later transferred to Maputo for specialised treatment.
Health officials said the mother and her newborn babies were in good health In the 2000 floods in Gaza province, a woman gave birth in a tree as she fled rising water caused by persistent rains.
The baby girl Rosita has since been dubbed "Tree Baby" by the media.
