Ban arrives in Dakar for summit

Dakar - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Dakar on Wednesday to attend the Organisation of the Islamic Conference summit and oversee new peace talks between the leaders of Chad and Sudan, a UN spokesperson said.
Ban was to be present later on Wednesday at a meeting between Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir and Chad's President Idriss Deby, where the two might sign an accord aimed at ending border tensions, a UN spokesperson in Dakar, Toussaint Kango-Doudou, said.
The UN chief was also to meet several leaders in Dakar for the OIC summit on Thursday and Friday and to see the regional heads of UN agencies, the spokesperson said.
