83 die in Kenya road accidents
26/03/2008 07:27 - (SA)
Nairobi - At least 83 people were killed and about 500 injured in Kenyan road accidents during the Easter holidays, said police on Tuesday.
The accidents - which killed 41 passengers, 33 pedestrians and four drivers - were caused by overloading, speeding and faulty vehicles on the roads, said Traffic Commandant Aggrey Adoli.
Flouting traffic rules and reckless driving on rutted roads had added to traffic accidents in the east African nation, where hundreds had died this year alone, police said.
