Halt in Kenya talks 'dismaying'

London - British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said on Wednesday he was "dismayed" by the stalling of talks on power-sharing in Kenya and urged the country's leaders to agree a cabinet so it can move on.
"I am dismayed by the latest turn of events in Kenya," Miliband said.
"We urge Kenya's leaders to agree a power-sharing cabinet that will serve all Kenyans effectively in order that the country can move forward and start to deal with the underlying issues that fuelled so much of the violence in the post-election period."
Parties on all sides of the political divide "must be prepared to make concessions to allow this to happen," Miliband added, saying that this included supporters of President Mwai Kibaki giving up some key portfolios.
Kibaki and Raila Odinga have failed to agree a cabinet despite a power-sharing accord mediated by former UN chief Kofi Annan after at least 1 500 people were killed in post-election violence in recent months.
