Warden up for selling ammunition
29/05/2008 10:26 - (SA)
Nairobi - Kenyan police have arrested a prison warden who was caught selling ammunition in a Nairobi supermarket, says a spokesperson.
The warden attached to the capital's Kamiti maximum-security prison was detained on Wednesday after being caught red-handed, said police spokesperson Eric Kiraithe.
"Sixteen rounds of ammunition for a G3 rifle means utter devastation. The warden will be charged with illegal possession of ammunition," he said.
Kenyan security forces had long been accused of selling arms to criminals in the capital, infamously dubbed "Nairobbery" due to a surge in crime.
