UN workers kidnapped in Somalia

Mogadishu - Two Swedish nationals working for the UN mine action service were kidnapped on Saturday in Somalia by Islamist militants, who have seized control of the town of Hodur, northwest of Mogadishu, a UN source told AFP.
"The two UN mine action workers were taken from the IMC (International Medical Corps) compound. We don't know their whereabouts and they were taken after Islamists took control of the town, 370km from the Somali capital,? a UN official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
He said both were Swedish nationals.
Local resident Hassan Mohamed told AFP the Islamists attacked Hodur in the early hors of the morning.
"The Islamists wounded the district commissionner during a heavy exchange of gunfire. They killed one of his bodyguards. They took control of the town and they also raided the IMC compound and took two foreign aid workers."
