Harare - A Zimbabwean man has been charged under public order laws for calling President Robert Mugabe a dictator.
Reason Tafirei from Harare's satellite city of Chitungwiza was held in custody after appearing in a magistrate's court on Monday.
Prosecutor Nyambo Viera told the court that Tafirei, who was unemployed, boarded a bus and shouted: "Mugabe is a dictator who rules by the sword and (British Prime Minister) Tony Blair is a liberator."
He has been charged under Zimbabwe's notorious Public Order and Security Act which makes it illegal to denigrate the president. Tafirei has yet to be sentenced.
