Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe says some white farmers will be spared under his controversial land reforms.
Zimbabwe's coalition government still has many challenges to face.
Washington - The United States has decided to extend a freeze of assets belonging to Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe as well as about 80 other prominent Zimbabwean nationals, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The sanctions were initially imposed on March 6 2003, in response to anti-democratic measures taken by authorities in Harare.
The White House said in a statement the Zimbabwean government's "actions and policies pose a continuing unusual and extraordinary threat to the foreign policy of the United States," and the freeze should be extended for a year, beginning March 6.
