Ncube: Bishops call for justice
20/07/2007 11:52 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Allegations of adultery against Zimbabwe's Catholic Bishop Pius Ncube were aimed at casting doubt on his credibility, said the Southern African Catholic Bishop Conference (SACBC) on Friday.
President of the SACBC Archbishop Buti Tlhagale said the archbishop's guilt or innocence had yet to be proved.
He appealed for everyone not to pass premature judgement on Ncube.
The allegations came at a time when Zimbabwe was facing one of its worst political and economic crises in its history.
He said: "We hope that Zimbabweans and the international community will not be side-tracked by these allegations in their efforts of finding a lasting solution to the serious problems bedevilling the country at present."
