SADC: Zim not on agenda
09/12/2007 17:32 - (SA)
Lisbon - The Southern African Development Community criticised the European Union on Sunday for bringing up the crisis in Zimbabwe at an ongoing EU-Africa summit, saying it was not part of the agreed upon agenda.
SADC secretary-general Tomaz Salomao said: "Zimbabwe was not part of the agreed agenda of the summit.
"Our position is that we are dealing with the issue, President Thabo Mbeki is dealing with the issue."
Salamao was speaking the day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel slammed Mugabe for "harming the image of the new Africa" with his human rights record.
