MDC should've waited - govt
02/04/2008 14:41 - (SA)
Harare - Zimbabwe's government condemned the opposition on Wednesday for
declaring itself the winner of joint presidential and parliamentary
elections, saying it should have waited for the official outcome.
"If the MDC thinks they have won, why don't they wait. "What is
urgent?" Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga told the BBC.
"Let it come from official sources."
Matonga's comments come after the Movement for Democratic Change's
General-Secretary Tendai Biti said its leader Morgan Tsvangirai had won
enough votes in Saturday's election to negate the need for any run-off against veteran President Robert Mugabe. - Sapa-AFP
