  • Doha - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe says his country continues to be "a victim of coercive measures" by those who want "regime change".

The longtime leader also criticised the EU and US. He says the sanctions they impose on Zimbabwe are intended to "control" how the country uses its resources.

Mugabe was speaking at a UN development conference in Qatar aimed at gaining commitments from rich nations to pump billions of dollars into developing countries.

But Mugabe criticised the practice of conditioning aid to democratic reform.

Mugabe and Zimbabwe opposition leaders signed a power-sharing deal in September, but disagreements have stalled the formation of a government.
