Warren Beatty in court

Los Angeles - Veteran Hollywood actor-producer Warren Beatty has gone to court over the right to make a second Dick Tracy film to follow his 1990 hit, a Los Angeles justice official said.
Beatty, 69, who rose to fame as the male lead in Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and won an Oscar for directing Reds in 1981, filed a lawsuit in May 2005 against the Tribune Co claiming he had held the rights to the Dick Tracy comic strip character since 1985.
On Friday a Los Angeles judge decided to let the issue go to trial after rejecting Tribune's request to conclude the proceedings in their favour.
According to the suit, Beatty, who directed and starred opposite the singer Madonna in the first Dick Tracy, now wants to make a sequel.
