  • Johannesburg - Five men, including two Algerians were arrested for fraud when police found foreign currencies, passports, divorce orders and marriage certificates in their house in Waverly, Pretoria on Sunday morning, police said.

Spokesperson Paul Ramaloko said police also confiscated copies of ID documents.

"Villeria police and the Pretoria crime combating unit raided the house early on Sunday following a tip off."

He said the documents might have been used to annul marriages and then marry the divorced unsuspecting citizens to people not known to them.

"Once the divorcing and re-marrying arrangements are completed, the victims are then defrauded of their assets.

The men will be held in custody pending their court appearance.
