Pretoria - "Something good must come from her death," says Elize Human, whose seven-year-old daughter Sheldean was murdered in Pretoria last month.

Sheldean's decomposing body was found in a stormwater pipe about four kilometres from her house on Monday evening.

Elize says nothing like this should happen to anyone else.

"I just want to get the funeral behind me, then I will put my plans into action. I know I have plenty of people behind me," she said, clutching a teddy bear.

The pavement outside their house is covered with flowers for Sheldean and a pink board with letters and drawings rests against the fence.

'Piece of my heart ripped out'

Strangers visited the house to have a few words with the heart-broken mother. They brought flowers, hugs and just encouraging words.

Elize said: "I never realised that so many people cared. All the hugs and the flowers mean so much to me.

"A piece of my heart has been ripped out. Sheldean was my only child and I will never be able to have children again."

"It was only strength from above that saw me through this. I last had a good night's sleep when my child was at home with me."
