13/03/2007 10:34 - (SA)
Pretoria - Scores of people, including pupils from Tuinrand Primary, descended on Cronje Park in Pretoria Gardens on Tuesday to bid farewell to murdered seven-year-old Sheldean Human.
Sheldean, a Grade Two pupil at Tuinrand Primary, was found murdered on March 5 after she went missing from her Pretoria Gardens home on February 18.
Ward committee member Phillip van Staden said the President's Office might send some representatives to attend the memorial service and City of Tshwane mayor Gwen Ramakgopa might also attend.
A private funeral, which will be attended only by family, will be held later in the day.
Sheldean's murder caused outrage amongst the public.
Many voiced their concern about the high level of crime in the country and abuse against children.
The man accused of her abduction and murder, 25-year-old Andrew Jordaan, will appear in Pretoria magistrate's court again on Friday.
