Picasso's son to authenticate father's work

Ankara - The son of Pablo Picasso is to come to Turkey to try and verify whether a group of his late father's oil paintings seized by Turkish authorities are in fact genuine.
The daily Milliyet newspaper on Friday reported that Claude Riuz
Picasso is expected to come to Ankara some time in the next few
months to authenticate the paintings now displayed at a state art
gallery in the capital.
In the past year, six Picasso oil paintings and one figurine
thought to be by Picasso have been seized by Turkish police from
smugglers. In almost all of the cases, police said that the
artworks had been stolen from Kuwaiti palaces during the 1990 Iraqi invasion.
There are doubts as to the authenticity of the paintings due to the fact that despite large publicity no one has come forward to claim rightful ownership. - Sapa-DPA
