Jimi Hendrix is the greatest

London - Legendary artist Jimi Hendrix has been voted the world's greatest guitarist.
He topped the list in a poll of celebrities and readers of Total Guitar magazine, Ananova.com reports.
Led Zeppelin and Yardbirds star Jimmy Page was second, with Eric Clapton third.
Fourth was former Guns N' Roses star Slash, followed by Queen's Brian May.
Total Guitar editor Scott Rowley said of the list: "What's nice about it is that it's not some music critic's opinion of the best guitarists - these guys might not be 'cool' by any music critic's viewpoint, but they genuinely are the fastest, loudest, most exciting players in rock and roll."
Not one woman makes it into the entire top 100.
Only one woman - Tracy Chapman - featured in the entire 440 guitarists that were nominated.
"There are some great female guitarists - Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell spring to mind, or session players like Jennifer Batten or Carol Kaye who played on a thousand hits from the '60s and '70s, from La Bamba to Surfin' USA," Rowley said.
"Personally I don't know if it's a bad thing. Women just aren't as geeky or competitive about it as guys. Instead of showing off, they're trying to write a good song. Which is probably smarter."
Brian May was among the big names who voted, choosing Hendrix, another ex-Yardbird Jeff Beck, Clapton, Eddie Van Halen and Harrison for his top five.
