MDC denies 'any agreement'

Harare - Zimbabwe's Movement for Democratic Change has vehemently denied signing any agreement with President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF.
Paul Themba-Nyathi, an opposition party spokesperson, was quoted on Monday as saying the MDC and Zanu-PF had started putting together a new constitution that would see President Robert Mugabe relinquishing power.
However, in a terse statement issued by the MDC on Tuesday and signed by Themba-Nyathi, the party stated "no such agreement has been reached or signed" providing for the drafting of a new constitution that would pave the way for a transitional government.
He said: "We want to state (this) categorically. In fact, there isn't even dialogue taking place between Zanu-PF and the MDC at present.
"Consequently, the alleged agreement is a complete fabrication without any foundation in facts or truth.
"At no time did I indicate there was any such agreement. There isn't even an agreement on what is to be on the agenda of the proposed dialogue," said Themba-Nyathi.
"The MDC has only submitted a proposed agenda to the mediating group of clergy, and there have been no further developments."
