What if Einstein was wrong? 14/05/2008 13:31
I have nothing to lose when I die and my faith in God led to nothing but darkness. But Einstein has allot to lose when Jesus Christ was the only Son of God and He does judge us when we die.
I would rather take my chances and believe in the Love of God which I felt and no one cant take that away from me. - Of Coarse |

MY GOD 14/05/2008 13:54
I believe in GOD and I will not defend his existence with people who thinks that they know everything ? just as the theories and inventions of Einstein have been proven to be true so also have numerous accounts of what is written in the Bible (THE WORD OF GOD) been proven as viable the truth. Being a Christian gives me the values and norms to live a good live and the conscience to make the correct decisions ? With the power of GOD everything is possible. - colin |

the Rwandan Genocide,Bosnia,Iraq,Palestine,Beirut & currently Alexandra!!And as if that was'nt enough..Maynnmar, After New Orleans(Where most casualties were Black ppl) & The Tsunami which are just natural disasters for the record & still have Faith in God's existence..?Well, one may argue that he still loves us all but judging by the worlds current affairs shouldn't the Quection be who does he loves most?(If he really exist that is) Nice piece Chris! - Les-Maada |

Green men (Aliens) would also enjoy more rights and protection than the citizens would have if they came to SA. The people act when the leadership fails them. The aliens (illegals and/or green ones) cannot be identified anymore as Home Affairs allowed them in without restriction. A bad, sad situation. So being an atheist deprives me of the values and norms to live a good live and the conscience to make the correct decisions?
Also, typing your opinion in UPPER CASE does not make it true... there is no evidence supporting the claim that the Bible is THE WORD OF GOD. It's the writings of superstitious men from a time before education and science.

THE CREATOR 14/05/2008 14:25
How the universe as we know it came to be, still relies on THE DIVINE CREATOR. Big bang theory is a great guide to lead us along explanation of how it was done, but can only go so far. Think of a box and we were created in it. No chance to get out or see outside of it, unless THE CREATOR allows it. I believe we live within THE CREATOR. Whatever you do, think and say therefore affects THE CREATOR directly, so be weary of you actions. - ElectroMan |

God/disasters Part 1 14/05/2008 14:29
I am not sure whether one can post recommendations here but for both believers and non believers there are some books you ought to read. Slave species of god by M Tellinger - how "gods interfered with our DNA in order to mine gold (origins of slavery and money) Out of Africa's Eden by Stephen Oppenheimer (scientists explanation of origins of man) and www.answersinGenesis.com. It might open the eyes of people and allow them to write intelligent responses here. The Annunakiwere the first colonists - GailC |

Kinda tricky when you think of........ 14/05/2008 14:31
God does exist. There is no doubt about that. His existence is proven all over the world - you must just open your eyes, read the Bible and believe. God does not love certain people more than others. He died on the cross for ALL MANKIND! Not just for a selected few. Only a selected few will however enter the Kingdom of God and those selected few are the few that accepted Him into their hearts and lives, repent from the wrong ways and serve Him, the King of all kings.God's judgment is pure. - Koch Froneman |

Faith and belief 14/05/2008 14:31
IMO there is a fundamental difference between faith in God and belief in something. I believe that there are giant squid in the sea, but I do not worship them! :) The alien thing is so logical though: Countless stars with countless planets. We exist, therefore we prove that it is a possiblility that sentient life may evolve. Therefore, statistically there must be an argument for other sentient lifeforms. - Bridget |

Einstein was right 14/05/2008 14:32
Quote Hemant Mehta: "Part of Pascal?s Wager states that you ?lose nothing? by believing. But an atheist would disagree. By believing under these conditions, you?re acknowledging that you?re willing to accept some things on faith. In other words, you?re saying you?re willing to abandon evidence as your standard for judging reality.". I agree with this notion and with Einstein. I also believe that Einstein would agree that there might be "little green men" somewhere in our vast universe. - Riaan |

God 14/05/2008 14:34
By the way,Les Maada, God did not create the earth the way it currently is with war, violence and genocide. The first 2 chapters of Genesis state that!It is because of our sin and wicked hearts that we are in the state we are. You are composed of 75 trillion cells, and there are about 800 billion known stars in the known universe and people have the gall to question his existence...oh i supposed they evolved ( my goodness we do have a lot of faith then!). - mark |

Re: Les Maada 14/05/2008 14:35
Natural disasters should not affect your belief in God, neither should the death of a loved one or illness. God does not make these things happen or send them to punish us! It is merely that the world is flawed. And in a flawed world bad things happen. It is not a punishment. As I understand it the punishing will commence when the braai in hell is fired up at the end of days, or perhaps just when a person gets there! - Bridget |

God/Destruction 2 14/05/2008 14:36
Those who espouse Evolution need to realise that Darwin was in part responsible for Racism since his book Origin of the Species has an alternative title which is blatantly racist. People who followed him were Carl Marx and Lenin and Hitler to mention but a few. Haeckel was another one. Google these and see if I am not correct? The explaination of life 14/05/2008 15:00
Einstein failed to purport a "theory of everything" wherein life, physics and the universe could be explained. How do explain that atomic components are actually formed of empty space(forces or beats). How can stuff be formed by non-stuff? How does empty space in one part of the universe know to produce the same type of matter as produced by another empty space light years away? The answer is you cannot because there is no physics for the "omnipresency omnipotency and omnisciency" of empty space. - Quantum Leap |

Christianity... 14/05/2008 15:02
I find it amazing that whenever somebody makes a statement of believe something that contradicts the Bible most Christians immediately demand proof from you. Yet how do they provide proof for what they believe in? How do you prove that God exists? The Bible supposedly preaches the Truth, yet there are more religions based on the Bible than there are books in the Bible. So which one is in fact preaching the Truth (whatever that may be)? - Foxie |

Einstein said nothing of UFOs, he spoke of God.
And why is it worse to believe in nothing?
All religion was created to keep the human species sane. People will much rather believe they were put here for a reason to justify their existence, instead of just accepting facts that we are but mere animals with the capacity to think, invent and reason. Though if i look at the violence in this country i doubt we still have those abilities - Fool |

Not your best... 14/05/2008 15:13
This piece was obviously put together with a deadline staring you in the face. I enjoyed it nevertheless. I so wish for balanced comment from readers rather than the usual predictable comments - everyone wants everyone else to conform to their own beliefs. Personally I don't care for religion but that does not mean I am the perfect target for religous persons to try bring around to christianity or whatever religion. You want to believe in a super being? Do that but don't preach your beliefs to me - Tuffy |

God vs Jesus 14/05/2008 15:15
Please don't use these two terms interchangeably. I am religious, I believe in God. Christians believe in (a man called) Jesus who they want to equate with God. If I say I believe in God it doesn't mean I accept Jesus too (he was a prophet in my eyes). Christians, please accept that there are other religions too (as well as atheists). And for the love of God, don't try and try and prove the Bible using quotes from the Bible, it's just plain stupid. And stop trying to convert people the whole time. - J.O |

Nice one, Chris. Of course, I knew when I read the headline that you'd be opening up the standard can of religious/anti-religious worms. Apparently there is a god - it's been pointed out here that there is proof. I can only assume that it's kept really well hidden and I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for it finally to be revealed to the world. I've just realised something - god hangs out with aliens; Elvis hangs out with aliens... Elvis is god! - CTheB |

Human Opinion 14/05/2008 15:26
Hi Chris, I do find your post very funny, but I just need you to understand one thing about "religion".
If you look at people, you generally will be dissapointed most of the time. But if you look to God and His teachings, you will find them unfallible.
Also remember the Catholic church is a religion based on Christianity, but most of their rituals is man made...i.e. fallible. - SAS |

Physics is basic 14/05/2008 15:29
The fact that physics cannot explain a simple thing like how intelligence exists by using the inherent rules of physics (burden of proof) means that physics is a limited science. Hence Einstein was limited by his limited knowledge, therefore physics cannot proove or disprove the existence of a soul much less the existence of God. First let physics explain how forces(non-stuff) create atoms (stuff). How does nothing form into something? - Dark Knight |
|
 |
| |
To Dark Knight 14/05/2008 15:36
Firstly, you show your complete lack of knowledge of physics and science in general. Second, you show your complete lack of knowledge about logic, which is far worse. By your argument, the fact that you can't explain god immediately renders your faith in god invalid. Please explain intelligence, since it's so simple. If you have to invoke god then you'd better be able to explain god, too, otherwise you're not actually explaining anything. - CTheB |

To the Atheist 14/05/2008 15:38
What proof do YOU have that there is no God? I am not trying to prove the existence of God although I do believe in Him. However, I don't force that opinion on anyone. Before telling us there is no God because we have no proof, why don't you prove that there is no God? I am up for an open minded debate as long as it remains respectful and sincere. If any of you are prepared to read the facts then I will happily debate. - H |

Losing... but not necessarily religion 14/05/2008 15:39
Interesting title for your article. Losing my religion was R.E.M's biggest hit. The band's name is an acronym for Rapid Eye Movement. This is something you get when you sleep. Which is what this article has threatened to do to me. I don't know if you are losing your religion but you are losing your touch. I am with Simone on this one... I don't get your article at all.

Price and Prejudice? 14/05/2008 15:43
Now THAT'S a nice slip-up, Chris... ;-) BTW, I find it queer that the believers in these comments proclaim a loving God, but the only reason they believe in him is their (un)holy fear for hell. That's like a parent asking his child to believe in parental love - "and if you don't, I'll give you a hiding." Totally perverse. - Mark R. |

The evidence is all around us you just pretend not to see it, He is everywhere. There are thingz that are out of man's control God proved His existence by creating everything including you and me He wakes you up everymorning. Be grateful to Him for everything He allowed you to be and to have because you do not have the power to do anything. You can't even have a baby if He doesn't allow it. Defintions defined 14/05/2008 15:49
Omnipresent(same everywhere) and Omniscient(knowing synchronicity)- How does one empty space(force=nonmatter)know HOW to react to create a hydrogen atom the same way as another space. What keeps the structure of the two hydrogen atoms intact without it disappearing in the very next instance(timeline).OMNIPOTENCY - what exactly is this power/potential of empty space that enables it to create dimensional matter?
