What's your point... 07/10/2008 11:51
I'm trying to understand the jist of this article but i can't.However i do feel that one has to make a comment on the recent outburst by the Terror man. I feel that as a South African and a member of the ANC Lekota has a right to question the system, so is everybody else. The only thing that he did wrong was to go to the media and spill his guts. The ANC has neccessary platforms to address these issues which i think terror should have put in good use. Failure to do so has made him a rebelious son. - Thokozani |

terror 07/10/2008 11:56
Yes but what about the fact that the grass is greener on the other side and so on and such and such. Like people always say... just because Terror is spelt with 2 "r" it doensn't mean it's going to rain of Friday or Tuesday - sowat2 |

Fighting Terror 07/10/2008 12:03
Since the ANC is issuing terror alerts does that make "Terror" a terrorist? Sowat those are real pearls of wisdon, i agree with you 100% - deep1 |

Funny you should mention this... 07/10/2008 12:04
Perhaps not so funny if you will be on the receiving end, BUT, I recently wondered how long would be appropriate, before critics of Terror, & Mr Mbeki start going missing, or suffer from unexplained injuries or illness. You don't get to the top of your game by being a good boy all the time. These "youngstas" in politics, are not quite the "gangstas", who actually fought for freedom, their bag of tricks is not quite as full. - sarah |

The Terror Within 07/10/2008 12:11
hehehe :-) although I must warn that names such as 'Terror' do not necessarily insinuate on the character's traits within black social circles. See when your name has a 'T' say Themba, Thabo, or even Pat (since Mr Lekota's second name is Patrick) - such people always wind up being called 'T' or 'Terra' or even 'Terror' (derived from Pat)... so fear not, unlock your doors and rest assured that we didnt concoct such nicknames to instill fear amongst the high-rise-fence-enclosed suburbia folks ;-) - U.M.K |

In the name of Zuma, the holy ANC and the Tripartite alliance 07/10/2008 12:17
The ANC is a religion with many followers. Here are some comparisons. 1. Supporter loyalty never changes irrespective of party performance. 2. When the church of the ANC is insulted, it is taken very personally and evokes a stinging reaction. 3. People pledge their lives for this organization. 4. People believe in them without ever seeing real action. 5. Followers go into dance and singing when their leader appears before them. 6. Supporters can be easily brainwashed. - Kal-El |

yho !!!!!! 07/10/2008 12:34
Fellow South Africans, I listend Julius Malema yesterday on Metro Fm. He is adamant that Zuma cabinet will rule this country come next year. To me it seems what Terror had no choice to spill the beans like that. Siya. P/E - siya |

Mr Lekota's more colourful moniker does indeed refer to his days as a football player. It's not as scary as it sounds. - La Duma! |

careful 07/10/2008 12:42
i'm just trying to get my head around this whole issue, but i think the ANC should learn from any powerful organisations that came and went, that "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It will be a sad day when the ANC implodes and the whole nation fighting against each other. Be open to criticism and be careful.

Our neighborhood had a dog named Killer. The dog was a chihuahua. For Lekota, I think this name is a term of endearment...because he is quite the opposite to Terror. - DJ - DJ |

Classic article Dave, I agree with Sarah - the old ANC guys have the hectic nicknames, but it's the young guys that have all the dirty tricks.
He's probably just angry that he wasnt invited to the last ANC Youth League piss-up, there's nothing like discussing politics and the country's future over a crate of Castle Long Toms! - SR |

Consider this.... 07/10/2008 12:54
If Terror had to be part of another pol party he would have suffered under their code of conduct etc.etc.The piss-off is that you have an ex chairperson who in the past wud have hauled any other member before a DC.Now what code of conduct does he subscribe to?Also this campaign of his and cronies did not start with recall of Thabo,it started when they refusd to accept a democratic process within their own movement. There is no crisis,we want these people out. They r an embarrassment!!!!! - Cape Town Kid |

The one who pulls the branch of the tree 07/10/2008 13:07
aka troublemaker. Thats what Rolihlahla means. As in Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. So for the apartheid government he was a troublemaker. ANYWAY, you need a very specific personality to be a politicians. "Nice" and placid will not get you were Mr Terror now is. Another thing: I heard Zuma being refered to as Kangaman? Can anyone PLEASE tell me what that means? - HT |

er actually, 07/10/2008 13:18
Sarah is on the side of the "old ANC guys" - Much as I can be at any rate. Having reached a certain age where I have accumuated a wealth? of knowlege, I turn rather mean minded when given uphill by a bunch of whiny juniors. Will however consider discussing the merits of my argument over a case of long toms though... ;) - sarah |

Terror 07/10/2008 13:27
David, maybe Terror was given this name because of the terror that white people used to instill in black people way back then before their wings were clipped!!Terror that if they opposed the government they would be jailed and would never see their families again - How Steve Biko died-ring a bell? You might hide behind humour, but your article is still racist and definately not funny, only funny to a certain race in this country!! - Mpho |

That the columnist is basically equating the ANC with Jehovah's witnesses and how they want you to bask in the glory ect, but mean while all they want to do is crush any and all opposition to their rule, which quiet frankly is robust tyranny for you er I mean democracy at work - Dr Spank |

the race card 07/10/2008 15:06

I see that those people who are an embarrassment, who you want out, are being asked to canvass for votes for the next election. No crisis? It seems that you and the Zuma camp knows that if they form a new party the ANC chances of winning would be 50/50 otherwise why would you want the embarrassing dissadents to canvass for you? - Donovan D |
