Love is worth fighting for 19/06/2007 10:37
You have restored my faith in men! It is great to realise that there are men out there who are willing to fight to keep a relationship together, especially a long distance one! Hope it works out for you. - Cat |

This is really inspiring... for somebody who is also in a loooong distance (same continent, though) relationship. You have to take that chance, otherwise how will you ever know!! Love is great. And David, good luck!!! - Cynthia |

I've been there and I didn't take the plunge. I had my reasons (not getting back what I was willing to put in). But you always wonder afterwards... Believe me, thats worse than trying your best and getting burned in the process! So just close your eyes and do it! - J |

Been there.. 19/06/2007 11:17
I was in the same boat. It was truly an uphill battle just to see each other. Then we'd be on a high for a few days and come crashing down to earth again! Torture I tell you.. But hang in there ;) True love is worth fighting for. We're married with a baby on the way. What more could a man want?? - Ralph |

Pounds shillings and pence 19/06/2007 11:30
My story is the same one - almost - except for the sharpei puppy, the lego pieces and a few other tiny details. A footnote to such a romantic life is, of course, the costs of maintaining the relationship. It is sending me straight into financial ruin - almost. But its still worth it - definitely. - Jaco |

It is worth everything 19/06/2007 11:42
I can appreciate what you are going through as my wife of 21 years is in Durban while I am working in London. It is not easy but as long as your love is strong enough, it can be overcome. I will be seeing my wife next week for the first time in over 5 months and I can't wait. Hope everything works out for you both. You are not alone. - John |

Im 35 years old and Im yet to meet someone who makes me feel that way.
The way that you love the way she smiles and talks to you, that alone, makes it all worth it doesnt it.
Its nice to know that Im not just a hopeless romantic after all! - Sara |

WTF 19/06/2007 12:06
This column actually made me nauseoooops! Schmarmy, sloopy, worm-my-way-into-the-ladies-good-books kinda writing. At least you will have approx 50% of the readers on your side for a while... so I have to take my hat off to you for that. Well done!
Brrrrrrrrrrraaaagh!

Love in absentia 19/06/2007 12:39
David, I don't know what you are going to go through, I have never had a long distance relationship, but I know the feelings you are talking about. I hope it all works out for you. In life, it's better to regret the things you did do, rather than the things you didn't. - Rikki |

A neighbouring country is hard enough!! 19/06/2007 12:42
Hey D. Well, my partner is in Jhb and i am in Harare (met him while i was on sabatical in Dbn for 8 months). We going on almost a year now...and i hear what you say "If you're not prepared to lose it all, you'll never have it all.". We hoping to eventually be in the same country, then progress to the same city. I have to sometimes remind myself of the "long-term" plan! Good luck.
B - Zimboza |
