Chicago - Talkshow queen Oprah Winfrey has signed up to host her ratings-topping show for another two seasons, her production company said on Monday.
The billionaire television personality has signed a contract with her distributors King World Productions that will keep her show on the air through the end of the 2008 television season, though with fewer shows per season, Harpo Productions said in a statement.
Winfrey will anchor 130 shows per season, down from 145 in the 2002/3 and 2003/4 seasons.
"It's fulfilling being able to do this kind of television," said Winfrey in a statement, "and I believe continuing to have a voice and a platform to speak to the world is still the right thing to do."
The daytime women-oriented talkshow is currently in its 17th season, and has ranked number one among all talk shows for the past 17 seasons and the last 66 consecutive sweep periods, according to King World, a division of CBS Enterprises.
The show, which has had an unbroken television run since it first debuted in 1986, reaches 99% of US television households and is syndicated to another 105 countries worldwide.
Winfrey, also an Oscar-nominated actress, producer and magazine publisher, recently recaptured the position of America's favourite TV personality, after a hiatus of three years, according to a Harris poll of 2 201 people.
