London - The BBC plans to film a television drama series based on the life of physicist Stephen Hawking, the Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday.
The series will tell the story of Hawking, 61, a renowned theoretical physicist who gained worldwide acclaim with his book A Brief History of Time, despite being left severely disabled by motor neurone disease.
Filming is about to start on the series with Hawking himself playing an important collaborative role in the project. He dismissed an earlier BBC film on his life, God and Stephen Hawking, as "stupid and worthless".
The series, written by Peter Moffatt and directed by documentary maker Philip Martin, is due to be aired next year. - Sapa-DPA
