  • Cape Town - SA's first idol Heinz Winckler is fourth favourite to win the World Idol crown, Centrebet, an Australian online betting agency says.

    The online bookmaker is taking bets at 9.00 that Winckler pips American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson and nine other performers to the coveted crown.

    Worldwide chart topper Clarkson is Centrebet's favourite at 3.00.

    The online betting agency rates Clarkson above Guy Sebastian (4.00), Will Young (4.50), Winckler, Ryan Malcolm (10.00), Alexander Klaws (13.00), Jamai Loman (15.00), Kurt Nilsen (17.00), Alicja Janosz (21.00), Peter Evrard (26.00) and Diana Karazon (34.00).

    World Idol is a contest between all the winners of first Idols programmes from around the world.

    The live event will take place in London on December 16 and is due for broadcast on M-Net on December 24 at 20:00 (the show will last approximately 90 minutes).

    The results show is scheduled for broadcast at 19:30 on January 7, 2004.
