Sex star bottles success

Toronto - After being sexy in the city, Sarah Jessica Parker has elevated her fashion icon status by introducing her very own fragrance, Lovely.
On Thursday, Parker chatted one-on-one with more than 500 of the 2 000-plus fans who lined up - some as early as 06:00 - to see her at a noontime appearance for the Canadian launch of the perfume in downtown Toronto.
After signing perfume bottles, as well as Sex and the City DVD cases and photographs, Parker was almost ushered out by security guards. But the fashionable New Yorker broke away from the safety of her escorts and started mingling with the crowd.
While Parker has been acting on Broadway, television and films for well over 20 years, it was her role as sex columnist Bradshaw that exponentially expanded her fan base.
Wearing a warm blush-taupe Marnie design and Alexander McQueen heels in cornflower blue, Parker seemed almost embarrassed when asked about her status as a fashion icon.
"It's not the way I perceive myself, I'm so low on my priority list," she said, pointing to the fact that she is a working mom.
"I love beautiful clothes and am privileged enough to have access to a lot them ... but they also are returned the next day. They are not mine."
Inspired by memories of watching her mother apply perfume as a ritual before she would go out, creating a fragrance is something that Parker had always dreamed of doing. She was insistent the scent be subtle.
"We've all been hugged by people who are wearing something really confident," she said. "I didn't want people to be apologising: 'Sorry. It's not me, I hugged Sue earlier."'
