Wilma postpones MTV awards

Mexico City - The approach of Hurricane Wilma has forced MTV to postpone the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, which had been scheduled for Mexico's Playa del Carmen resort.
MTV's Mexico spokesperson Dulce Gordillo confirmed that the programme had been postponed until a still-unspecified date.
The cable network earlier had shifted the programme from Thursday to Wednesday to avoid the hurricane, which was forecast to pass close by Mexico's Caribbean coast on Friday.
The United States national hurricane centre said on Wednesday the storm had developed into the most intense hurricane on record in the Atlantic basin.
