Sir Paul beams into space

London - Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney is to become the first artist in history to broadcast live music into space, it was announced on Thursday.
The live link-up from Sir Paul's tour date in Anaheim, California, to the International Space Station will take place on November 13.
His performance of Beatles' classic Good Day Sunshine will be beamed to the international space station crew.
It will be a special wake-up call for the station's two crew members, Nasa astronaut Bill McArthur and Russian cosmonaut Valery Tokarev.
Sir Paul got the idea after hearing that in August Nasa's Mission Control woke up the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery with Good Day Sunshine to let them know the weather was good enough for them to attempt an Earth landing.
"I was extremely proud to find out that one of my songs was played for the crew of Discovery this summer. In our concert we hope to repay the favour," the singer said.
Sir Paul will also play English Tea, from his latest album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.
The performance will be broadcast live on Nasa Television.
November 13 will be the 44th day in space for McArthur and Tokarev, who are in the middle of a six-month flight. - Sapa-dpa
