Los Angeles - Cartoon hits Chicken Little, Madagascar and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride are among 10 movies vying for coveted nominations for next year's best animated feature film Oscar, organisers said on Thursday.
Also hoping to win one of just three nominations in the category when they are unveiled on January 31 are Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Robots, Valiant and Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle.
Walt Disney's Chicken Little is currently topping the North American box office, while the animated animal story Madagascar was a huge hit for Dreamworks earlier this year.
The other films that will battle for a nomination are Hoodwinked, Gulliver's Travel and Steamboy.
The 10 films have been accepted as eligible to compete by the executive committee of the short films and feature animation branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Oscars will be handed out in Hollywood on March 5 next year.
