Washington - Harry Potter rode his magic broom into space this week where the crew of the International Space Station enjoyed a special showing of the new Potter film.
Mission Control in Houston transmitted the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to the crew 354km above the earth on the request of American astronaut Bill McArthur, commander of the International Space Station, the US space agency said.
The film was part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (Nasa) efforts to help McArthur and Russian cosmonaut Valery Tokarev relax aboard the station when they take breaks from their busy work schedule during a six-month mission.
On November 13, Nasa arranged for the two men to hear a live broadcast of former Beatle Paul McCartney performing at a concert in Anaheim, California.
The latest Harry Potter film has opened to big audiences and publicity around the world, breaking box office records in Britain in its opening weekend.
Author JK Rowling's six books featuring the young wizard Harry have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and been translated into 63 languages.
